The Asset Kit

It's licensed to you for one purpose: making your entry. Use it boldly inside your film — and nowhere else. After the Challenge, your film stays in your portfolio, with credit, once it’s been signed-off by Formula E.

GEN4

Full Rules

1. The Promoter.

The Formula E Creator Challenge (the "Challenge") is run by Bionic Awards, a trading name of Bionic Tribes Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16502274, whose registered office is at 127 Fortis Green Road, London, England, N10 3LX (the "Promoter"). Google Cloud ("Google") provides creative tools and judges. Formula E alone is responsible for the fulfilment of prizes. The Promoter is solely responsible for the administration of this promotion.

2. Eligibility.

The Challenge is open to individuals aged 18 or over (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, if higher), worldwide, except residents of countries or territories sanctioned by the UK Government on 31 July 2026. These include but are not limited to: Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, plus any other jurisdiction where the Challenge would be prohibited or restricted by law.

Employees, contractors, directors and agents of the Promoter and the Partners, their affiliates and agencies, and their immediate families or households, may not enter.

3. Teams.

Entries may be made by individuals or by teams. Each team must appoint a Captain, aged 18 or over, who enters on the team's behalf, is the sole contact, and receives any prize for the team. How a prize is shared within a team is the team's own responsibility.

4. Entrant class.

When submitting, each entrant must declare their category eligibility (see Rule 14). The choices are:

(a) Independent Creator — one or more individuals entering in their own names, whether solo or as a team. This includes employees of agencies or studios who wish to enter work made in their own time.

(b) Agency Creators — a creative studio, production house or advertising agency entering under its business name, through a person who is authorised to enter on its behalf.

(c) Flow Innovators — any entrant who has used Google Flow as their end-to-end pipeline may also submit into this special category. You will be asked to supply evidence of Flow usage (e.g. project ID).

The Promoter can reclassify entries as it sees fit and may ask for additional evidence.

5. Challenge period.

Entries open on 17 August 2026 and close on 26 September 2026 at 23:59 BST, by the Promoter's clock. Late, incomplete or corrupted entries will not be accepted.

6. How to enter.

Register on the official Challenge microsite to receive access to the GEN4 Asset Kit. Make your film, then submit it on the FilmFreeway website with: (a) the entry form; (b) your film, as set out on the entry page; (c) a short declaration of the main AI tools you used and confirmation that you have followed Rule 8; and (d) any consents required on the form, including your acceptance of these rules. You may submit multiple entries per person (or team) with no limits but each film must be substantially different, and each may be placed in one category only, except for the Flow Innovator award (see rule 4).

Shortlisted entrants must share a short summary of how the film was made and the AI tools used within five days of being notified. They might also need to provide a higher-quality version of the film suitable for screening at the IMAX premiere event (see Rule 15). Not supplying either of these two elements could mean removal from the shortlist.

7. Film requirements.

Each film must: (a) run up to 60 (sixty) seconds, including title cards and excluding end credits; (b) be original, made for this Challenge after the launch date, and not previously entered in a competition or used commercially. Posting works in progress, or the film itself, onto your own social channels is fine, save that if what you post includes any material from the GEN4 Asset Kit or other Formula E intellectual property, you must not post it without the Promoter's prior written consent, which will not be given without Formula E's approval; (c) be 16:9 landscape, minimum 1080p resolution, delivered as an .mp4 or .mov file (H.264 or HEVC); (d) include English subtitles if the dialogue is not in English; (e) respond to the published creative brief; and (f) include components from the official GEN4 Asset Kit on screen for at least 4 (four) seconds of the film's runtime (Rule 10).

8. AI tools.

Generative video created natively with Google Veo, Flow or Lyria must make up 100% of the film's total runtime. All post-production (e.g. editing, grading, compositing, mixing) may use any tools or manual craft. Entrants must follow Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy and all applicable tool terms. Entrants must keep their project files and prompts, and share them on request to verify compliance. Failure to do so is grounds for disqualification.

9. Music and audio.

Films may only use: (a) audio generated with Lyria; (b) music composed originally for the entry; (c) music from the approved library on the entry site; or (d) commercially released music for which the entrant holds written worldwide synchronisation and master licences, with evidence available on request.

10. GEN4 Asset Kit.

Registered entrants receive the official GEN4 Asset Kit under a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence, solely to create and submit an entry to this Challenge. GEN4 Asset Kit materials may not be used for any other purpose. All use must stop on request or when the Challenge ends, except that you may retain your finished entry film for your own personal records. Because your finished entry film contains material from the GEN4 Asset Kit, any other use or exploitation of it, including on your own portfolio, website, social media, or in any commercial context requires the Promoter's prior written consent, which will not be given without Formula E's approval.

Every entry must visibly use GEN4 Asset Kit components for at least 4 (four) seconds of the film's runtime.

Entries must not include third-party IP or trademarks from outside the GEN4 Asset Kit, footage from other motorsport series, or the name, image, voice or likeness (including any AI-generated likeness) of a real person, including drivers, without written consent approved by the Promoter.

11. Content standards.

Entries must be suitable for a general audience and must not contain anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful or discriminatory; anything promoting violence, illegal conduct, dangerous imitable behaviour (including dangerous driving on public roads), alcohol, tobacco, drugs or weapons; anything that disparages the Promoter or the Partners; or anything that would breach the applicable advertising codes. A simple test: if the film could not be posted on YouTube under its community guidelines, it will not be accepted.

12. Ownership and licence.

You retain ownership of the film and also its underlying IP. By entering, you give us and the Partners permission to use your film, free of charge, for three years from the closing date. "Use" means things like: hosting it, screening it (including at the BFI IMAX premiere), sharing clips, posting it on our and the Partners' channels, showing it in race-coverage broadcasts, and using it to promote the Challenge and the tools it was made with. This permission is non-exclusive, so you're also free to use your film however you like, and we can pass it to people who help us do all these things, such as the cinema or a broadcaster. We may need to make small practical edits (e.g. cropping, subtitling, or cutting it into a montage) and you agree not to object to those.

Where your film includes material from the GEN4 Asset Kit or other Formula E intellectual property, you own the film as a creative work, but you do not own, and nothing in these rules gives you any rights in, that underlying material. You may not use, adapt, sub-license or otherwise exploit your film in a way that uses that underlying material outside the purposes described in these rules without the Promoter's prior written consent, which will not be given without Formula E's approval.

We grant this permission to the Partners as agent for each of them, and each Partner may rely on and directly enforce this Rule 12 as if it were a party to these rules.

Your film will never be used to train, fine-tune or evaluate AI models without your consent. Not by us or the Partners, unless you separately agree to this.

13. Judging.

Winners are selected solely on the merit and skill shown in their entry, judged against the published criteria; there is no element of chance in the judging process. Entries are first screened for eligibility and shortlisted against those criteria. A jury then selects the category winners, judging each shortlisted film on four criteria, each as set out in full on the Challenge microsite.

The panel includes at least one independent judge with no connection to the Promoter or the Partners, whose name is also published on the entry site. The judges' decisions are final, and individual scores are not published.

14. Categories and prizes.

The categories are: (1) the Independent Creator Award; (2) the Agency Creator Award; (3) the Flow Innovator Award.

All shortlisted entrants receive the Shortlist Prize: their film will be screened at the BFI IMAX in London on 21 October 2026, plus two free tickets for the entrant to attend this premiere event. Travel and accommodation are not included and there is no cash alternative.

In addition, the winner of each category receives the Category Winner Prize: an Emotion Club ticket for the winner and one guest at a Formula E E-Prix (a Formula E singular race), plus a contribution of up to USD$2,000 towards travel and accommodation for the winner and up to USD$2,000 towards travel and accommodation for their guest, to be booked by Formula E.  Any costs beyond the contribution are the winner's own responsibility. Further details, including the date and location of the E-Prix, will be confirmed with category winners nearer the time. There is no cash alternative to the Category Winner Prize.

We'll let shortlisted entrants know in early October 2026 and ask you to reply within 72 hours so we can confirm your place for the Shortlist Prize; if we can't reach you after two attempts, it may pass to a reserve. Before a place is confirmed, we ask you to keep the news to yourself until we announce it together. Category winners will be announced at the Showcase Event itself.

15. Premiere deliverables.

On request, finalists may need to supply, within five (5) days of the request, a higher-quality master file suitable for the premiere screening, along with their prompt documentation and rights-clearance paperwork. We may disqualify submissions where the entrant fails to do so, or if their conduct could bring the Challenge or its partners into disrepute.

16. Publicity.

Winners' names, likenesses, films and prize information may be used by the Promoter and the Partners for Challenge-related publicity, without further payment and in line with Rule 12, for one year afterwards. The surnames and counties or countries of winners will be made available on request in line with the CAP Code, subject to a winner's right to object.

17. Data protection.

Personal data is processed in line with the Privacy Policy on the entry site, in accordance with UK GDPR, and shared with the Partners only as far as is needed to run the Challenge. See Rule 12 for the position on using your film to train AI models.

18. General.

We may disqualify any entry that breaks these rules. We won't change these rules after launch unless the law requires it or something genuinely outside our control forces it, and no change will disadvantage anyone who has already entered. If the Challenge can't run as planned, we may change, pause or cancel it, acting fairly and in line with the CAP Code.

If you have a complaint about how the Challenge is run, please contact us at [complaints email/address] in the first instance. We will try to resolve it fairly and promptly. If we cannot resolve your complaint, and you are not satisfied, you may refer it to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Entering is free, so our responsibility to you is limited: the most the Promoter will be liable to any entrant for is the value of the prize. This doesn't limit anything the law says can't be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your film is your own responsibility. If it breaks these rules or uses someone else's work, likeness or music without permission, and that leads to a claim against us or our Partners, you'll be responsible for the costs of that claim.

19. Jurisdiction

These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales and its courts. Consumers outside the UK may have extra rights under their local law.
